WILL OF BENJAMIN OGDEN - MONTGOMERY CO., MARYLAND
In the name of God, amen. I, Benjamin Ogden late of Charles Co. but now of
Montgomery in the State of Maryland being at the time of making this will
sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory and calling
to the uncertain state of this transitory life and well knowing that all
flesh must yeald (sic) unto death when it shall please Almighty God to call
do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and
form following that is to Say
I give and bequeath to my eldest son Henry Ogden my Negro boy called
Cornelius, he is about twelve years of age. I also give to my Said Son
Henry one Negro woman called Paul [Poll] or Mary about forty years of age.
I also give to my aforedaid Son Henry my young sorrel mare called Peg. I
also give to my Said Son Henry one feather bed and furniture.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my Second Son Benjamin Ogden my Negro man
called Plowman Ben or Benjamin about forty years of age. I also give to my
Said Son Benjamin my Negro woman called Priss about forty-five years of age.
I also give to my aforesaid Son Benjamin my sorrill mare called Boney about
three years old. I also give to my Said Son Benjamin one feather bed and
furniture. As for the remaining part of my personal property, It is my wish
and desire that a part thereof be applied to pay of my step children; and my
lawful debts and after that is done I give and bequeath all the remaining
part to my two aforesaid sons Henry Ogden and Benjamin Ogden Share and Share
alike. And lastly I constitute ordaine and appoint my true and trusty
friend John Adamson my hole and sole executor of this my last will and
testament disannulling revoking and making void all other will or wills
heretofore by me made and this shall be taken for my last will and testament
and no other. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal this 7th day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and ninety-three.

Signed sealed and published to be his last will and testament in presence
of us Edward Burgess, William Fulkes Rachel Oden.
Montgomery County the 15 th day of February 1793 Then came William Fulks
and Rachel Oden two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and
testament of Benjamin Ogden late of said county deceased and severally made
oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they did see the testator
herein named Sign and Seal this will and that they heard him publish
pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament and at the
time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and
disposing mind memory and understanding and that they Subscribed their names
as witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the testator
